This was to me considered to be a very well done amazing animated childrens film which I myself found it to be entertaining. The humour of course brought not only myself the attention but for the families as well. The two main characters really put in alot of effort for us viewers to enjoy watching how amazing this film turned out. (George Clooney and Meryl Street) This story had certainly got to my attention and had made me want to find out what will be next until the end of the film. The writer showed that he has ways to put his enthusiasm to be able to make this film to be a succes and for the title sure fits into it as well (fantastic)

What a disappointment story-wise although the animation and voice-overs were wonderful! If you love Roald Dahl stories as I do and have actually read the book "Fantastic Mr. Fox", prepare for a large let-down in this Americanized, iphone-era version which is only vaguely inspired by the fabulous and finely-crafted original tale.

I dont want the hour of my life back, but I'd never sit thru it again. You will either love or hate this movie. I'm glad I saw it at the cheap theatre. The animation is story book style which was unique. The plot was simple and shallow. It just wasnt a good show. If youre an odd ball (usually liberal grass smoker type) who liked where the Wildthings are, then you might enjoy this. My kid was bored senseless... and so were the others in the theatre.

This movie was cussing awesome! There was way more clean adult orientated humor than what I was expecting for a animated film. Most other animated films try to humor adults with crude sexual innuendo rather than smart humor which makes this film truely Fantastic!

Another strong movie by Wes Anderson, a great animation style coupled with convincing voice acting make this film stand out among others. I loved it. That being said a movie not targeted to kids (direction by Wes Anderson should make that clear) and a picture that finds itself in a strange place having a more 'high brow' style humor in an animated film without the typical plot lines or emotional 'gimmicks'.

Charming and clever, this was a real treat to watch. A notable performance by George Clooney in the titular role that has gone un-lauded in the press. Artistic and pretty to look at. Funny at just the right times. The best interpretation of the "tone" of Roald Dahl in film in a long time.

It really was fantastic. It was humourous in a way that some people wouldn't understand and that is what helps make it so great. It doesn't need slapstic stupidity to be fun and clever.

Boring... Most of the jokes lacked umph... and the animation was second rate. I'd try to give this movie an honest review but it truly did suck.

Very trippy. Could see how people could either love or hate this movie. Art was really interesting, gave it its trippy funky appeal. Voices could have been anyone, gave it's so so feel.

Phenomenal! If you are a Wes Anderson fan, it has all the characteristic stylings and wit and (very)flawed heroes. The visuals, while being a tribute to the kind of stop motion puppetry coming out of England and Eastern Europe in the sixties, utilizes pretty much every animation technique there is to create an original and unique experience. The "action" sequences are a delight, and whoever was in charge of scoring the film needs some serious awards! Do try and catch it while it is still in theatres!

Never read the book but found movie very enjoyable, in fact it was charming. Not for kids but I can see how some adults would not enjoy it. The look of the film was amazing, can't remember seeing anything quite like it.

It's beautiful. A thing of beauty. The look, the story, the off-beat witty dialogue, the voice acting... I laughed and cried and smiled the entire way through. It's got such charm and elegance for an animated film. There's something in this film for everyone.

Went with the whole family (6,8,14,44,49) and we all enjoyed it. Not the best thing ever, but entertaining nevertheless. Much of the dialogue was aimed at adults - there were a couple of laugh-out-loud lines that the little ones didn't even catch. The animation style was different / interesting.

Did not feel this was meant for kids. But for adults, it did have alot of meaningful lessons. It was a good story built on strong characters, and the cast was very good. The picture type was interesting and different. Not the sort of animation we are used to seeing, and that made it quite original. Georges Clooney as the voice of Mr. Fox was great. The characters and the plot was very believable.

I didn't pay to see this movie because my parents had a coupon... I still wouldn't recommend it. None of the kids in the theatre seemed pleased, I didn't laugh or cry once (which is very, very rare because I absolutely love family movies) and overall I was just bored. My mother kept falling asleep and my dad offered to go fill up the popcorn because he was so restless. I mean, the animation was fantastic and very refreshing, the soundtrack was great, and the storyline had promise. I just felt that it fell flat. I thought UP and Wall.E were much better, funnier, more touching, and overall more poignant. I figure more people will disagree with me but I'm just putting this up for the people who want my honest opinion...

You can't kill a toon. Fox Searchlight (is that an intended pun?) exec's may not appreciate the reference to cartoon characters in this film, but there is more violence in this film than any animated movie I can recall. Lot's of homages to other films, and George Clooney probably never worked harder in his life. The moral lessons are more subtle than usual, which may not please the kids. I was actually bored.

Ugh... did I see the same movie as the people who gave it a 8.0?!?! Horrible... my boys (5 and 14) wanted to leave 20 minutes in! I was counting on the cinemaclock ratings to give me a biased opinion and an 8 is a pretty good reason to go see it... wow was I ever disappointed! Do not go see this it's horrible!!!

Terrible for young kids - the violence is painful, the dialogue is directed at educated adults, and the animals are too much like characters from Seinfeld. Great animation, and it's a wonderful creative project in many ways, but simply completely inappropriate for under 13.

The violent scenes ruined the magical quality, because they were too realistic - a rabid dog foaming at the mouth, or a body part removed leaving a wound... sorry but it's in the movie. The set design and artistry are amazing, and much of it was delightful, but the writing was way beyond the understanding of any of the young kinds. So it was uneven: brilliant and yet disappointing at times.

Wes Anderson at his best. A large, well managed cast, believable dialogue and interaction. This will probably bore younger children, but it thrilled me. And the soundtrack was well thought-out.

An enjoyable movie. It's not your high buget CGI film that makes this movie. I hate to see stop animation stopped. I doubt this movie will make big bucks but it will entertain the older crowd.

I'm not a fan of Wes Anderson's other films but I decided to see this because I missed every other movie that was playing that I wanted to see. I regret not seeing this earlier, in fact. The animation was excellent- the animals looked quite real (esp. their fur) and were very expressive in their faces and mannerisms and didn't move too awkwardly. The sets were beautiful and lavishly designed in a good way (aka not a Rob Marshall lavish), with tons of detail and little side jokes you could barely notice. Look at the supermarket or the town or even the lawyer's office- Badger has his Macbook in the background. Haha The voices were very good, although it's hard to go wrong with George Clooney and Meryl Streep as your leads. You could really feel their emotion just through their voices, and the animation only enhanced that. Jason Schwartzman was probably the best of the cast- always pitch perfect in his more subtle performance. George Clooney is suave as per usual, and I guess that depends if you like him or not (I do) The movie was very very funny, and I was pretty much laughing the whole movie except the more dramatic scenes. Good recurring jokes (whistling," cuss") that weren't overused and different types of humour that appeal to both kids and adults. Unlike other Anderson films, the pace here is very quick and quite a lot happens in a film that's under 90 minutes. It's his most accessible film, although not super accessible compared to other children's films. His trademark quirkiness is lessened here and it's very enjoyable. While there is some more broad humour for children, a lot of the humour is more subtle and restrained and maybe not the best for kids. Some dialogue is more complex and they will probably not get the references. I saw it this weekend (Dec 4-6) and my theatres was over 2/3 adults/teenagers. They were laughing a lot but you didn't really hear the children laughing at all, unlike your Ice Age or Shrek movies. I honestly can't wait to rewatch this movie on DVD.

One of Wes Anderson's best films, though understandably less dramatic than his usual. If you're familiar with his work you should know what to expect. If you're not, that doesn't matter and you might enjoy it even more as a result. Very quirky with well drawn out characters ranging from realistic to humurously exaggerated. I haven't read the Roald Dahl book but I've heard the movie is almost completely different, which is fine by me. I was most worried that the animation would be poor, but it is excellent (for stop-motion animation at least) The movements are very articulated and realistic (though there are many moments where the movement is purposely robotic and stiff) and the facial animation is perhaps the best part. In particular the humans look stunning, the animation on them is so smooth and realistic it competes with the best CGI of today. My biggest gripe is about the ending, which seemed just a little to incomplete. Other than that, the only real problem is the movie relies on sophisticated dialog and characters rather than flashy animation, meaning most of the film will go right over children's heads. As a matter of fact I have trouble imagining children would enjoy this film much at all. Personally I don't mind this, but since it's classified as a children's film it will probably dissapoint many pre-teens and their parents I'd also like to note that it's one of the few stop-motion animations I've seen that actually benefits from the medium, it gives the film a tangible quality that really goes well with its style. Last but not least; this is not your ordinary accessible Disney animation. If that's what you like/want (and there's nothing wrong with that), then you probably won't like the Fantastic Mr. Fox.

If you loved reading the book to your kids, you'll probably hate this movie. It has to be one of the worst adaptations of a children's book ever. Like all Roald Dahl's books, the original is subtle, humourous, and above all delightfully politically incorrect - every thing the movie is not. The first half hour is more boring than even the Pokemon film, while the animation is barely passable. Save your money, read the book (and enjoy the drawings in it, they are much better than the hack animation)

Wes Anderson's best film - better than Royal Tannenbaums; better than Rushmore (if only just) The juxtaposition of the seemingly civilized animals and their wild moments give the film a lovely dark edge that will delight kids and adults alike.

I was very entertained by the film, but it really is aimed more at an adult audience. There is no profanity in this movie, so it is appropriate for kids in this regard, but the vocabulary used in the dialogue was at a pretty mature level. I would guess ages 10 and up would really appreciate this film.

I took my five year old daughter and I was very disappointed. Personally, I didn't like the style of animation. I found the whole experience quite sedating. I am very particular about what my daughter watches and I didn't find it as didactic and morally inspiring as it potentially could have been for my daughters age group. I didn't really like any of the characters and didn't appreciate the level of gun violence. I like to walk away from a movie (especially one predominantly intended for children) feeling somewhat inspired and uplifted and I didn't feel like this delivered.

This is one of the best movies I've ever seen. The graphics were "fantastic" and the storyline was fab! It was an artistic showpiece that was easily enjoyed by the whole family. I was accompanied by my 6 year old daughter and my 11 year old son, and we all LOVED this movie from beginning to end. I usually nod off during family/children's movies. Not this time. I was captivated!
